Hi Indonesia
« Reply #121 on: July 19, 2012, 04:15:34 pm »
I got directed to this site through a shop in Yoyakarta.

I am Originally from the netherlands, spend most of the last 10 years here in Indonesia
in Bandung with my Indo girlfriend.
After so many years I still find it hard to speak Indonesian, makes it difficult on the internet
as well, used google translate to translate this site, won't work because Indonesian tend
to shorten their language when texting or on the internet, just unusable.

So, here I am, trying to figure out problems with My openbox, will post in a new one.

Cheers Perry

Thanks erm.....Schatje.

Weird to say the above, while I have a girlfriend.

The problem is as I said before Indonesian people shorten each and every word in SMS,
email, letters or whatever, unreadable for foreigners.
Unlike English, they use things like LOL, TTW, LMFAO on the internet but it's fairly rare,
they don't normally shorten everything, here they do and the reason why I don't speak
much Indonesian is that Indonesian words are Loooooooonnnnnnnnggggggg, always 1 or
more syllables longer than my language or English.
People who say Indonesian is easy should stop saying that and read for instance the articles
from the former dutch ambassador in the Jakarta post from a few years ago.
He explains quite well Indonesian is NOT easy at all.
But, I do understand that English is difficult for you, but I don't agree it's a difficult language.

Cheers Perry

Hi friend ! I'm glad to know you here but I am of the opinion that learning a foreign language is just the same from one language to another, no language is easier or more complicated than the others. As a matter of fact, it depends on the learner him/herself. The more motivated the learner is the easier he learns the language. In your case, you have a good advantage that you have a girlfriend to practice it with ...       :good: :piss:

Hi Mr. Perry, nice to know you and welcome to the great satellite forum, :D
Introduce I'm Rendy, I'm newbie here.
I love to read your comment, that's incredible opinion, Indonesia is different with all the countries around the world, Indonesia is unique has many tribes, ethnique, traditions and etc.
English as international language, absolutely we have to study and know about that.
