ASIASAT SATELLITE REPLACEMENT
AsiaSat have confirmed the schedule for the replacement of the AsiaSat 2 satellite with AsiaSat 5 at the 100.5 degrees East orbital position. The transponder name will also change from 3B to C3H.
The switchover from AsiaSat 2 to AsiaSat 5 will occur between 2200 and 2225 GMT on the 17 September 2009.
AsiaSat have prioritised the 3B transponder to minimise the disruption to AP distribution services. AsiaSat advise the interruption should be in the order of ten minutes or less.
Services on the AP Data channel will be paused and held at the time of the switchover and then resumed after a successful switchover has been confirmed.
Transmission on APTN's satellite network, the Global Video Wire (GVW), will have ended by 2200 GMT.
